B CAFE by JVL Concept

We recently visited an underrated cafe in Johor Bahru that felt more like a fine dining restaurant than a typical cafe. We went to celebrate Father’s Day, and I appreciated how the waitress was considerate enough to sanitize their baby chair before my daughter sat down. The abalone spaghetti is highly recommended. They suggested pairing it with white wine, so we did. The Chardonnay was excellent. Additionally, they were very generous to even shared some of their staff meal with us. Overall it was a great experience, we had a great time in Johor Bahru, definitely coming back again

Recently visited B Cafe for a private dining experience, and it exceeded my expectations. The cozy ambiance and personalized service was really well thought out. Happened that their private rooms were fully booked, so we chose the lounge sittings. The truffle mushroom risotto was okay with unique twist of basmati rice, though a smaller soup portion would be ideal for us, their natural wine selection was a pleasant surprise, hardly I can find any place like this in JB. Our server, Shanyi, was attentive and friendly. Highly recommended for a unique dining experience, don’t miss their wines, it’s available by the glass!

It’s been a long time since I had such a decent cup of coffee in Johor! visited during the day and ended up chatting with the team so much that I forgot to take a picture of what I ate (haha). The barista suggested I stay through sunset, and honestly, it was one of the most romantic and heartwarming experiences, the space transforms beautifully after dark. It’s not the fanciest renovation compared to some high end places i visited in JB, but somehow it just caught me, the view, the good coffee, the sunset wine, and even how they fed stray cats outside their shop. The staff were genuinely friendly, the boss seemed truly happy, and it felt like everyone, including customers, were just enjoying the moment together. It made me believe that their core values are real and alive in this place. Definitely a spot I’ll come back to.

Had a very pleasant time at this restaurant this evening. Ordered myself lamb and Yin yong spaghetti, and for my date foie gras and laksa spaghetti. Lamb served was big in portion, cooked to medium yet very tender still, and the sauce paired was amazing. Loved the yin yong spaghetti, i picked beef and chicken as my options, and again surprised by the quality and portion of the beef and chicken served with the spaghetti. My date’s laksa spaghetti was also a surprise. Never thought these two (laksa & spaghetti) would go along so well. Creamy soup, authentic laksa with a very special twist. Last but not least, the foie gras! We both loved it. It was very well cooked and the portion served is bigger than most restaurants I’ve visited especially at this surprisingly low price point. We were expecting it to be rather small given the price we saw on the menu was on the lower side for foie gras, but it was HUGE and tasted amazing! Loved it and would come back for more. Highly recommended, especially to couples as we dined in the private room and I think that’s a pretty good experience compared to other open spaced places

Dropped by this restaurant for a quick lunch. Very good spaghetti (it’s called Yingyong spaghetti I think), with decent portion of beef and chicken served alongside (can choose salmon too). Would visit again. This restaurant also has multiple private rooms and overall the environment is very pleasant, with very good coffee available as well.

Soup, Cream of French Onion A warm and comforting start, the French onion soup was rich in flavor, with a silky creaminess balanced by the sweet depth of caramelized onions. It's an elevated take on a classic, served elegantly. 2. Abalone, Garlic & Coriander Nam Jim Gai The abalone was tender, delicately cooked, and brought to life with a zesty Thai-inspired garlic and coriander Nam Jim Gai sauce. It added a delightful punch without overpowering the subtle sweetness of the shellfish. 3. Fish, Seabass with Asam Pedas & Vegetables This course was a bold fusion. The seabass was perfectly seared, flaky and moist, with the tangy, spicy asam pedas giving it a distinctive local twist. Paired with vegetables, it was a smart interplay of tradition and modern plating. 4. Chicken, Hariyali Chicken with Turmeric Rice Fragrant and beautifully green, the hariyali marinade was herbaceous and full-bodied, perfectly complementing the turmeric rice. This dish stood out for its flavor harmony and aromatic presentation. 5. Lamb, Pitaya with Passion Fruit Mojito Granita Perhaps the most intriguing course of the night, the lamb was paired with a refreshing passion fruit mojito granita and a splash of pitaya. The contrast between the savory lamb and the icy, fruity granita was unexpected yet surprisingly well-balanced. 6 & 7. Dessert – Matcha Larva & Mini Cake Dessert closed the evening on a high note. The matcha lava cake oozed with rich, bittersweet green tea goodness, while the mini cake added a touch of elegance and sweetness to end the meal. Wine Pairing: Each course was expertly matched with wines that highlighted the key flavors of the dish. From crisp whites to deeper reds, the progression was smooth and thoughtfully selected, enhancing the tasting experience without stealing the spotlight from the food. Ambience & Service: The café exudes a cozy yet classy atmosphere, perfect for a romantic evening. Staff were attentive, informative about the pairings, and carried the service with warmth and professionalism. Although it's is alittle rushy with the time. Hope they can inform us earlier before we start dining in. Final Thoughts: The 520 Menu at B Cafe is a fine blend of East-meets-West, where modern European techniques meet bold Southeast Asian flavors. It’s ideal for couples looking for an intimate, sensory experience that goes beyond the ordinary. With stunning dishes, well-paired wines, and a whimsical theme, B Cafe by JVL Concept has created a memorable culinary celebration.

I’ve been there many times and the food quality is very consistent. Loveee their steak and abalone pasta Also a huge fan of their matcha latte! One of the best in town! The staff is very friendly too! Highly recommended!
